- ABOUT US
Within the frame of the project “Consolidation of Democracy through Strengthening of Journalism ” (1997 – 2000) and “Creating of the two way information flow” (1996-1999) funded by the United Nations Development Programm, 6 regional centers under the Press Institute have been established with the aim to serve as training and information resource centers for rural journalists.
Activities of the regional centers are:
Upgrading of professional skills of rural journalists by involving them in training courses in Ulaanbaatar and/or conduct training courses in the rural areas
Support rural journalists and media workers in their investigative work and intensify information exchange between rural and urban media.
Develop cooperation between rural journalists and other media and professional organizations
By organizing a wide range of meetings, conferences and round tables for media professionals (involving also politicians, lawyers and others) to discuss and foster an appropriate environment for free media, the Press Institute has rendered a real contribution to the development of a democratic society in Mongolia. As an organization carrying out a wide range of activities on a large scale (training, research, information service, etc.), involving media managers, journalists, media researchers, journalism teachers, students, state and non governmental organizations as well as private entrepreneurs and individuals from all over the country, the Press institute is truly one of the most important players in the Mongolian media field.
