NATIONAL MEDIA AND LITERACY NETWORK ESTABLISHED

Thursday July 2nd, 2020

Today, there are about 500 media outlets in Mongolia and a total of 2.2 million people use social media.

However, recent research and data show that there is a lack of public awareness on how to recognize false information, how to differentiate journalism from social media, and how to approach any information with a judgmental mindset.

Therefore, a National Network will be established in Mongolia to contribute to the development of media and information literacy in all spheres of society, to improve the knowledge, understanding and attitudes of decision-makers and the public, and to develop and strengthen joint efforts and cooperation between policy makers.

A total of 15 governmental, non-governmental and private organizations are participating in the national network, and today we signed a Memorandum of Understanding and officially announced the establishment of the network.
